Description: | |
Project Associate at the Dept. of Aerospace, IISc, Bangalore – CFD to understand the effect of stratification on turbulent flows About the job: Turbulent fluid flows are found everywhere - from natural phenomenon to engineering systems. When such flows are influenced by stratification – variations in properties such as temperature, salinity or viscosity – they behave in interesting ways. This project aims to explore how different stratification mechanisms interact to influence flow behaviour. We will use computational fluid dynamic (CFD) simulations such as direct numerical simulations (DNS) and reduced-order-modelling techniques to explore the underlying physical mechanisms that govern such flows. Qualification: Bachelors or Masters in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related disciplines. Experience with the programming language Python is essential. An understanding of CFD techniques like DNS will be relevant to the project. Duration: 6 months (including a 1-month probationary period) starting immediately. Possible extensions for up to 1 year. Salary: As per the standard IISc project associate salary scales. Deadlines: For full consideration please send CV and a cover letter to the email anagham@iisc.ac.in before the end of 18th of December, 2024. However, the position will be open until filled. In you email, please include the subject line ‘PA: CFD for stratified flows’. Contact: Dr. Anagha Madhusudanan (DST-INSPIRE Faculty Fellow, Dept. of Aerospace Engg.). Email: anagham@iisc.ac.in. |
