Post-Doctoral Researcher (f/m/d, Nr. 530-24)
(salary group 13 TV-L, 100 %)
to join the Heisenberg working group “Multiscale Simulations of Earth Surface Processes” at the Faculty of Physics, Campus Duisburg.
With over 20 professorships, the Faculty of Physics offers an active environment in research and teaching with an international reputation.
Your duties
• You perform research tasks in the DFG-funded project “Particle-based simulation of Aeolian transport: Granular electrification controls on the initiation of particle motion” (project summary: https://gepris-extern.dfg.de/gepris/projekt/348617785?language=en) with a focus on numerical simulations and mathematical modelling
Your profile
• You have an above-average PhD in physics, mathematics, geosciences, engineering or a closely related field with a focus on numerical simulations and mathematical modelling
• You have excellent programming skills (ideally C/C++ and Matlab or Python) as well as experi-ence with statistical analysis of scientific data
• Previous experience with the software LAMMPS/LIGGGHTS or other software for discrete ele-ment or molecular dynamics simulation of granular systems is desirable
• Very good knowledge of the physics of aeolian processes is advantageous
• You have a very good command of English, which is required for research, the publication of research results in international journals and the presentation of results at international confer-ences
• You are able to work in an interdisciplinary team
